I think colds should be taken more seriously.

Yeah, it's just a snotty nose and a headache, but you know what? This virus is trying to KILL me. My body is currently saving my life! However, if someone asked why I missed college, and I tell them that I have a cold, they'll think I'm a pansy.

But you know what, I'm DYING here! Dying! And no one cares but my immune system...

Heh, very true. I've got a cold right now, might miss school, and give in a dramatic letter of how my body's being attacked by a killer virus, with my immune system drastically trying to save me from dying. Doubt it would work.

Hey the common cold is no less or no more taken seriously than say, calling in depressed. Depression is something no one addresses. Whenever I am having an "episode" and need to take LITERALLY a mental health day, I feel guilty about it, but it beats the possibility of me sitting at my desk at work sobbing, or yelling like a lunatic.

Hope you're feeling MUCH better!

Yeah -- my mum has bipolar disorder and when she was doing her PhD the Powers That Be cut her funding, while at the same time someone with a physical disability got extra funding and time.

I think it's because the term 'depressed' is used so often, and yet no one really understands what it is until they've had it or known someone close to them that's had it.

Sigh.

Beelze-- they will come to your door with breakfast and worship your every move until you get better!! They have no idea what you're going through :(.
